Grace Osei writes:
“Trust is the glue of life. It’s the most essential ingredient in effective communication. It’s the foundational principles that hold all relationships” - Stephen Covey.
Trust, therefore, is defined as to have confidence, faith, or hope in someone or something. Trust is given out for free but when it is broken , it can be the deepest wound that becomes difficult to heal.
To have the option to work adequately with individuals, in procuring their trust and collaboration, there is the need to understand their interests, wants, and needs. Again, imparting them and communicating to them how you are happy to function with them to see this premium, want, and needs satisfied, should be paramount.
By doing these so well, it is to the leaders' advantage of earning their trust.
To build trust, a leader must work to break down barriers and embrace a transparent leadership style coupled with honesty. A leader must also depict qualities such as competence, connection, and good character.
Followers will forgive occasional mistakes based on ability but they won't trust someone who has slips in character.
Competent leaders share a lot of attributes, however the most significant is their capacity to motivate trust.
With a strong establishment of trust, followers will act uninhibitedly and without dread, and they will be more ready to face challenges, move outside their usual ranges of familiarity, and investigate new thoughts.
They will be more promptly in sharing data, feeling sure that different followers' eventual benefit are at the top of the priority list.
No Leader can break trust with the followers and expect to keep influencing them.
Trust is the foundation of leadership and it makes leadership possible.
Without trust, you can't lead effectively and your followers cannot reach their full potentials.
In a nutshell, it is to the benefit of leaders that without a solid foundation of trust, they cannot effectively execute their vision in achieve their goals.
